Mask Up!
Face Masks Required Columbia City Council passed an emergency ordinance this week requiring the use of a face mask. In a continued effort to provide a safe and healthy environment for staff and customers, The Gourmet Shop will be requiring a face mask for anyone to enter the shop or indoor dining area. (This includes standing in line to pay after eating outdoors.) Please be prepared. Stay safe, wash your hands, and mask up!

Cheese Board
Bleu 1924 from Herve Mons An “old school” Roquefort made from sheep and cow milk. It is dense and smooth. In flavor, it is sweetened condensed milk up front, with a bacony finish that carries a trace of black pepper. This is a blue cheese the way it used to be. $24.99/lb
Pecora Rossa Soft-ripened, Italian Sheep’s milk cheese with an annatto colored orange rind. It’s sweet, mild, creamy, and delicate. $31.99/lb
Von Trapp Mad River Blue Super approachable blue with a buttery texture, notes of hay and grass, light sweetness, saltiness and a mild bite. $33.50/lb
Wine of the Week
Vina Zorzal Garnacha ’19 “The entry-level red simply called 2019 Garnacha is what they define as their regional bottling, using grapes from the villages of de Corella, Cintruénigo and Fitero, produced in an approachable and easy-to-understand way. It had a gentle vinification, starting with grapes of moderate ripeness with a good pH, fermented with indigenous yeasts and using 20% full clusters. The difference in vintage is noticeable when tasted with a majority of 2018s; this is a clearly riper and more open vintage, with a more Mediterranean character, with sweet fruit and aromatic herbs. It reminds me of some of my favorite old-time unoaked Garnachas from Navarra. It has a serious palate, with freshness and chalky tannins and a serious finish. Great value! 110,000 bottles produced. It was bottled unoaked in February 2020.” 91 Pts Vinous $13.99/btl
