New Arrivals

cheese strawsSlather Brand Sauces Slather was founded in 2009 by Robin Rhea, a Johns Island native who grew up surrounded by the flavors and traditions of the South Carolina Lowcountry. She learned early on the power of good food — raising chickens, growing vegetables, and cooking family meals from scratch. Robin combined those homegrown traditions with a spirit of culinary adventure, experimenting with global flavors while keeping one foot firmly planted in the South. Out of that passion came Slatherin’ Sauce, a sticky-sweet, slightly spicy blend of tomatoes, honey, pineapple, and peppers.
We’re happy to have both her famous sauces in stock at The Gourmet Shop just in time for Father’s Day gifting! The original recipe is mild, but flavorful, while the bold recipe packs the heat!

glovesToadfish Oyster Knives The original teal Toadfish oyster knife was developed by oystermen, combining traditional elements with a modern ergonomic approach and safe shucking. In practical use, that translates to a knife that feels natural in your hand and stays stable during twisting and prying.

Ergonomic Handle: The most celebrated feature is its molded handle, crafted from post-consumer recycled plastic. It features a distinct thumb depression and finger indent that locks the hand into place, dramatically reducing hand fatigue and preventing slippage even when wet.

glovesBlade Construction: The knife features a Japanese stainless steel blade that is stain-free, rust-resistant, and built with a “full tang” design (meaning the metal extends through the entire length of the handle) for maximum durability.

Bent Tip Design: The tip has a slight upward angle, making it easier to leverage and pop open the hinge of both raw and steamed oysters.

bowlsToadfish Professional Oyster Knife A patented ergonomic thumbprint design, the white pro oyster shucking knife is used in commercial kitchens for shucking thicker shelled oysters. Featuring a thicker blade, this shucker has less flex, more shucking power, and increased leverage compared to other oyster shucking knives.

bowlsThe limited edition Abalone Oyster Knife from Toadfish is the perfect combination of high performance shucking and striking design. Featuring the Professional Oyster Knife blade, this knife is perfect for East, West, and Gulf Coast oysters. It combines a sharp, sturdy stainless-steel blade with a flatter handle design for comfortable, effortless shucking.
But what truly sets this oyster knife apart? A vibrant, iridescent Abalone underlay in each handle made from sustainably sourced aquaculture—a stunning detail.

bowlsBuying From a Brand That Gives Back For every product purchased, Toadfish funds the planting of 10 square feet of oyster habitat. Oysters do real work in our waters; a single oyster can filter a surprising amount of water each day.

Toadfish has also partnered with the Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina and supported habitat efforts through donations. With the motto “shuck, recycle, rebuild,” the brand clearly wants conservation to be part of the product story.

All models are in stock now at TGS.

Wine of the Weekwine of the week at The Gourmet Shop

Domaine de Marcoux Chateauneuf du Pape ’21
“A real success, Armenier’s 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals a bouquet of violets, dark wild berries, spices and garrigue accented by delicate notes of pepper. Medium to full-bodied, delicately juicy and round, it is enrobing and seamless, with good depth at the core and framed by a bit firm, structured tannins. While it possesses a slightly austere and strict character at this stage, I believe time will be an ally, allowing it to evolve beautifully. Drink 2024-2034.”
92+Pts Wine Advocate $83.99/btl
